The EQE is Mercedes-Benz’s first locally produced electric vehicle based on the dedicated Electric Vehicle Architecture.
Thanks to its modular design, the new car architecture has a strong scalability and enables the creation of new EVs and updates of the vehicles over their lifetime, such as the installation of the new-generation batteries.
Based on this electric architecture, the EQE is equipped with Mercedes-Benz’s self-developed battery package which provides customers with a reliable electric range of up to 752 kilometers under CLTC conditions.
The exceptional electronic control system enables the car to reach industry-leading efficiency with energy consumption of 13.7 kilowatt hours per 100 km.
The EQE is just one of eight new energy vehicles Mercedes-Benz plans to introduce into China this year. Other models include the all-new EQS SUV, Mercedes-AMG EQS 53, and plug-in hybrid variants of the C-Class and S-Class. Moving forward, more EVs from Mercedes-Benz are expected to be localized in China.
From 2025, new entry-level electric models based on the compact Mercedes-Benz Modular Architecture and EVs built on the self-developed MB. EA electric platform will be produced in Beijing.
The accelerating electrification in China underpins Mercedes-Benz’s strategic goals outlined in its “Ambition 2039″: to achieve a carbon neutral new passenger car fleet by 2039.
Meanwhile, Mercedes-Benz aims to go all-electric by 2030 wherever market conditions allow. This strategy resonates with China’s dual carbon goals of peaking carbon emissions by 2030 and achieving carbon neutrality by 2060.
